Just south of the Colorado state line, Colfax County was formed in 1869 and named for the Vice President under President Grant, Schuyler Colfax. The Colfax County Courthouse is on the Register of Historic Places and is a museum devoted to the Santa Fe Trail. Colfax County has joined the Triadic Mass Pay system to centralize their collections stop refunds.
